Solar Showers
Make washing in the wild easier and use a solar shower to feel fresh and clean again. An outdoor hanging solar shower with a capacity of 10 or 20 litres of water is a practical part of your kit in all places where you have no opportunity to maintain regular hygiene. A solar shower is excellent at campsites when staying in nature or at a cabin — in short, anywhere a proper shower is not possible.
The shower works extremely simply: just fill the PVC tank with water and hang it in direct sunlight, which will heat the water. The material is black, so it heats the water even faster. To heat the water, leave the shower in direct sunlight at approximately 20°C for around 3 hours. These conditions are sufficient for the water to warm up to a pleasant 35°C, so you definitely will not feel cold when showering. The solar shower comes supplied with a valve, hose and shower head and 2 m nylon cord. Some models also feature a water thermometer.
You Can Improvise with Solar Showers
We all know that warm water always comes in handy — not only in the wild, but also at a cabin, in the garden, fishing or on a building site. The answer is the solar shower: a low-maintenance invention ideal for use in challenging conditions. It is suitable not only for showering, but also for washing cutlery, mess tins and cookware. It provides a free, fairly quick source of hot water — of which, incidentally, there is never enough at a cabin or cottage.
Solar showers offer luxury yet are low-maintenance themselves
Solar showers from Mil-Tec and MFH simply need to be filled with water and hung in a sunny spot, ideally sheltered from cold wind. Depending on the intensity of sunlight and the volume of the solar shower, you can then enjoy a warm shower within a matter of minutes.
