Spandex

Spandex, Lycra or also elastane is a synthetic fiber known for its exceptional elasticity. It is a soft elastic fiber made of polyurethane polymer capable of stretching up to 600%, which does not degrade upon contact with human sweat, fat, detergents, and cleaning agents. Spandex is added as an elastic fiber to various materials and clothing. This way, the product remains flexible, fits well, holds its shape, and is easy to maintain. It is more durable and stronger than natural rubber. The advantage of spandex is its ability to return to its original shape and faster drying than common fabrics. Spandex fibers are produced in four different ways: melt extrusion, reaction spinning, dry spinning, and wet solution spinning. This material is mainly used in tight-fitting sportswear (for activities such as cycling, swimming, running, yoga, etc.) or as comfortable, close-fitting underwear for everyday wear.
