With this method you won't unnecessarily scorch your hair or beard, because you'd regret it over time. To add volume you can use the clever instant death function, just press the legendary Vegvisir. Use:
Blow-drying hair and beard is not a race to see who can dry fastest. It's a ritual like any other. Dry wet hair with a towel as best you can, then blow-dry. Always start on setting one and work from the roots to the tips until it's almost dry. Finish the styling with hot air.
PRO TIP: When you're doing the final shaping, don't be afraid to apply styling product to your hair, and feel free to use balm or wax on your beard and moustache. Blow-dry it with hot air and finish the look with a comb or brush.
PRO PRO TIP: Press the instant death button right when you switch on the hair dryer, before it has time to heat up. From the tips, blow warm air everywhere you need to add volume.
