Specification
Rechargeable headlamp Fenix HM61R Amber V3.0 offers a luminous flux of up to 1800 lumens (ANSI) of neutral white light (4500 K) with a range of up to 195 meters. It provides three lighting types – long-range, wide and red – so you always have the right light at hand whether you are exploring terrain, doing sports, working in the workshop, or just want to read in a tent. The long-range reflector creates a well-focused beam with a long throw and the secondary reflector produces a very wide and smooth beam. The wide-beam reflector offers a maximum output of 200 lumens with a high color rendering index CRI >90 (Color Rendering Index). A red light and strobe up to 70 lumens are also available. It is powered by a single Li-ion battery type 18650 with 4000 mAh capacity, which is included and charges via a modern USB-C connector directly in the headlamp. In emergency, the headlamp can also be powered by RCR123A (16340) batteries or a single-use CR123A battery. The headlamp is equipped with a wide comfortable strap. The strap is perforated for quick sweat drainage and equipped with reflective elements that ensure good passive visibility when running on the road.
The tailcap of the headlamp is magnetic, so it can be easily attached to anything iron. HM61R Amber V3.0 features four brightness levels for each reflector, allowing selection between high output and long runtime (up to 400 hours). The light is powered by digitally controlled constant current to ensure steady light output even as battery voltage decreases (during gradual discharge).
All-metal construction ensures high durability, optimal cooling and is fully waterproof according to IP68 standard down to a depth of 2 meters underwater. Practicality is increased by the ability to remove the light from the head mount and use it as a pocket or work light. Additionally, the headlamp is equipped with a removable steel clip, so you can easily attach it to a pocket or strap. The multifunctional Fenix HM61R Amber V3.0 is an ideal companion for various sports activities, business and professional use, outdoor trips as well as home and work.
The HM61R Amber V3.0 version is specially modified for the Czech and Slovak market; compared to the standard version it differs in the following points
- The LED in the long-range reflector has a neutral light tint instead of cold.
- It is controlled by one large button that can be easily operated while wearing gloves.
- After warming up, it maintains higher output in Turbo and High modes than the standard HM61R V3.0.
- The wide beam has 4 output modes instead of 3, including an extra economical Eco mode with 2 lumens and a runtime of 400 hours.
- Stronger and faster flashing of the red light allows the HM61R Amber V3.0 to be used, for example, as a bicycle flasher.
- Memory for the last red light mode.
All lamp parameters (luminous flux, runtime on batteries, waterproofness, range and impact resistance) are measured in accordance with the ANSI/PLATO FL1 standard.

Usage
There may be a black insulating cover on the battery inside the lamp from the factory. Before first use, remove it from the battery.
Turning on/off and switching modes: White light is turned on by holding the button for 0.5 seconds, the headlamp turns on in red light by double-quick pressing the button. The brightness levels of the active light color are then cycled by short presses of the button. The light is turned off again by holding the button for 0.5 s.
Switching between long-range and wide reflector: Switch between long-range and wide reflector by holding the button for 1.2 seconds while the headlamp is on.
Memory of last set output mode: The headlamp has memory and will turn on in the last set output mode of the respective reflector, except for the Turbo mode of the long-range reflector (it always turns on to High mode).
Lock/unlock: When the headlamp is off, quickly press the button 3 times, the headlamp will flash 4 times indicating it is locked. Unlock it again with three quick presses of the button, then it will flash 4 times and remain lit in Eco mode of the wide reflector. Note: In the locked state any operation other than unlocking will cause 4 flashes to indicate locking. Removing and reinserting the battery will unlock the headlamp. Unwanted activation in luggage can also be prevented by loosening the battery cap of the headlamp by a quarter turn, which breaks the electrical contact and the headlamp cannot be turned on.
Intelligent proximity sensor: The headlamp has a built-in safety circuit. When the long-range reflector is on and the headlamp approaches the illuminated object closer than 6 cm, it will automatically reduce output to 30 lumens to prevent overheating and possible burns or damage to the illuminated object. When the headlamp moves away from the illuminated object for more than 0.8 seconds, it will automatically restore the previously used output mode.
Turning the proximity sensor on/off: With the headlamp off, press and hold the button for 6 seconds. The headlamp will flash twice, which means the function is on. Turn the function off again by holding the button for 6 seconds with the headlamp off. The headlamp will flash 8 times indicating the function is off.
Overheat protection: Prolonged use of the lamp at high output modes accumulates a large amount of heat. When the headlamp reaches 65 °C or higher, it will automatically reduce output to lower the temperature. When the temperature drops below 65 °C, the user will again be allowed to select high modes.
Battery charge level indication: On each power-on, or after pressing the button when the headlamp is off, the indicator LED in the button activates for three seconds:
- Steady green: 100% - 85%
- Green blinking: 85% - 50%
- Steady red: 50% - 20%
- Red blinking: 20% and less (charge the headlamp as soon as possible)
- The indication is active only with the rechargeable Li-ion 18650 battery.
Low battery warning: If the battery voltage drops below the set level, the headlamp will automatically switch to lower output modes. If this happens in Low output, the battery status indicator will start flashing to remind you to recharge or replace the battery in time. Note: This function is active only with the rechargeable Li-ion 18650 battery.
Charging
- Open the dust cover and plug the USB-C charging cable into the headlamp charging port. After charging is complete, reseal the dust cover.
- During charging the indicator lights red. After full charge it lights green.
- Normal charging time is 2.5 hours with a 5 V/2 A USB source for a completely depleted headlamp. The headlamp can be used during charging, but charging time will be extended and available output modes depend on the current battery charge state.
- Only Li-ion 18650 batteries may be charged; do not attempt to charge single-use CR123A batteries or 16340 batteries.
Warning
- Do not disassemble sealed parts of the headlamp yourself, this will void the warranty.
- We recommend using quality Li-ion batteries with protective electronics Fenix 18650. 18650 Li-ion are high-performance batteries and must be handled with appropriate care. Having protective electronics reduces the chance of catastrophic failure, but Fenix is not responsible for damage caused by using non-original batteries from other manufacturers.
- Remove the battery from the headlamp if you will not use it for a long time or if it is discharged. Single-use batteries may leak and subsequently damage the headlamp.
- Lock the headlamp or loosen the battery cap to prevent accidental activation during storage or transport.
- Long-term use may result in wear of the O-ring. To maintain proper water sealing, replace the ring with a spare.
- If the lamp flickers, does not switch to higher output modes, or does not light, it may be one of the following reasons:
- The battery is nearly depleted – charge or replace it.
- The contacts inside the lamp are dirty – clean them with a cotton swab soaked in alcohol.
- The rear part of the lamp is loose – tighten it.
