Operation of the Fenix HT18R V2.0 hunting flashlight
There may be an insulating cover on the battery from the factory. Before first use remove it.
Turning on/off and switching light modes - press the round tactical switch for momentary illumination; the flashlight will turn off upon release. Fully pressing the tactical switch will turn the flashlight on continuously. When the flashlight is on, output levels are switched by pressing the functional rectangular switch. Holding the functional switch for 0.5 seconds activates the flashing modes.
Instant Strobe - from the off state press and hold the functional rectangular switch; the flashlight will turn off upon release.
Instant Turbo mode - from any state (on/off) hold the round tactical switch for 0.5 seconds. Upon release the flashlight returns to the previously used output. If it was off, it will turn off upon release.
Lockout function - hold both switches simultaneously for 3 seconds. When locked the flashlight will blink twice. Upon unlocking it will light in the last used steady mode.
Memory of the last set output mode - the flashlight remembers the last used output mode except for flashing modes. On next activation it will start in the last used steady mode.
Charging- slide the cover of the charging connector on the side of the flashlight and plug the USB-C charging cable into the charging port. After charging is complete slide the cover back. During charging the indicator lights red, and turns green when fully charged. The flashlight cannot be used during charging. Typical charging time for a fully discharged ARB-L21-6000 battery is approximately 1.5 hours using a 9 V / 3 A USB source, or 2.5 hours using a 5 V / 3 A source.
Battery charge indicator - at each turn-on the indicator LED activates for three seconds. If the indicator LED is green, the battery is charged above 85%. Green blinking means 50-85% capacity. If it is red, it is charged 25-50%. Red blinking indicates less than 25% battery capacity remaining.
Intelligent overheating protection - if the flashlight temperature exceeds 60 °C, output will be automatically reduced. Once temperature drops below 60 °C, output will gradually increase again.
Low battery warning - if the voltage drops below the preset level, the flashlight will reduce brightness to a lower level. Upon reaching the lowest output the battery charge indicator will start blinking red to remind you to recharge or replace the battery.
Warning
- Use only high-quality rechargeable 21700 Li-ion batteries with protection circuitry.
- Insert batteries with the positive pole towards the head of the flashlight.
- If the protective rubber rings appear damaged after long use, replace them. The rings should also be lubricated to prevent rubber erosion. Following these rules will properly protect the flashlight against water.
- If the flashlight is flickering, will not switch to higher modes or will not turn on, it may be for one of the following reasons:
- The battery is nearly discharged – charge or replace it.
- Contacts inside the flashlight are dirty – clean them with a cotton swab soaked in alcohol.
- The head, body or tail of the flashlight are loose, tighten them.
