A quality three-person tent for sensible money. Husky Beast 3 from the Extreme Lite range is a free-standing double-wall tent with an internal aluminium frame that keeps the weight down. Its 190 × 300 cm floor gives three adults a comfortable shelter on cycle tours, treks and ordinary camping trips.
An internal aluminium frame and low weight
The 8.5 mm aluminium poles carry the bedroom from the inside and, together with the lightweight aluminium pegs, keep the tent stable even in bad weather. A free-standing frame means you can pitch the tent where pegs are hard to drive in, and move it once pitched. The small vestibule in front of the entrance takes shoes and small items of gear.
Ripstop polyester with a 6,000 mm water column
The 210T ripstop polyester flysheet has a polyurethane coating with a 6,000 mm H₂O water column and taped seams; the ripstop grid stops any tear before it spreads. The breathable 190T nylon inner tent with mosquito mesh keeps air moving, and the 190T polyester groundsheet with a PU coating has a 10,000 mm H₂O water column. The fabric has enhanced UV protection.

Pros and cons of the Husky Beast 3
✓ Pros: three places at a weight under 3.5 kg, a good balance of price and equipment, taped seams and a 6,000 mm water column, a free-standing frame, complete accessories in the package.
✗ Cons: the vestibule is small — not enough for bulky gear, the 130 cm height does not let you stand up, the internal frame means the bedroom gets wet if you pitch in the rain, and it is not built for winter conditions.
