Light shorts for the field need enough pockets and a fabric that does not tear. Vintage Industries Angus has five pockets — two of them zipped — and ripstop in a cotton and nylon blend that is light yet hard-wearing. The straight regular fit wears comfortably all day.
Ripstop that stops the tear
A reinforced yarn is woven into the fabric in a regular grid. When the material catches on something, the tear stops at the nearest grid line and goes no further. That is exactly why ripstop is used for field gear.
Regular fit
Regular fit is the safe choice — not clingy, but not baggy either. It suits most builds and leaves enough room for a thinner layer underneath.
